Celebrate International Friendship Day on July 30th!

Hello, this is Yuki from the SoCalization marketing department. I'm a sophomore at San Diego State University! I'm returning to my hometown in Kyoto for the summer vacation, but I can't help but be happy to see my old friends after a long time. Today, to celebrate such friends, let me introduce a little about July 30th, which is known as International Friendship Day!

What is International Friendship Day

Do you know International Friendship Day? I knew about the existence of this day, but I didn't really know what to celebrate. I've never thought deeply about celebrating my friends because I don't think I'll do anything. After doing a bit of research, according to the United Nations, International Friendship Day is set to commemorate the poverty, violence, and human rights violations that are happening in various parts of the world today. The root causes must be addressed by sharing, fostering and defending the spirit of human solidarity, which takes many forms to face challenges. The simplest one was described as friendship.

Through friendship, by forging bonds of camaraderie and fostering strong bonds of trust, we achieve lasting stability, build safety nets that protect us all, and bring us all together for the greater good. Together, we will be able to contribute to the radical transformation urgently needed to create a passion for a better world.

how to celebrate this day

I feel the importance of friendship and friends when I think that I can take actions that are difficult to do alone by having connections and building trust. It might be a good idea to try and participate in an event where you can meet new friends on this day. That's why SoCalization, which supports people who value enjoying life, will sell a set of drinks that you can enjoy with your friends on International Friendship Day! Through this set, we hope that you will deepen your ties with your close friends, get together with new friends, and use it as an opportunity to get together and drink with a rich international flavor!

About cultural differences between Japan and the United States

By the way, this is a bit of an aside, but I felt the cultural differences between Japan and the United States through the use of Instagram stories by a friend in Japan since high school and a friend I recently became friends with in the United States. I feel that many of my friends in Japan actively post what they are doing on Instagram stories. For example, if you go drinking with your friends, you will see pictures of beer. On the other hand, I think that the friends I met in the United States place importance on "who" I went drinking with. When I go out for a drink with Taeil, I feel like I often see group photos of people with me through the mirror. Let's make International Friendship Day lively by taking this opportunity to be seen with the people who are with us! If you tag SoCalization with your photo on Instagram stories, we will send you a SoCalization sticker!
