A Prohibition-era, own-rooted vineyard of multiple grape varietals over 100 years old remains in Oakley, Contra Costa.

It has a concentrated style typical of this slightly warm area, with complex flavors from a variety of varieties and a soft finish typical of the sandy loam soil.

Klein Cellars is extremely popular not only in California but also in Japan thanks to its unique varieties, origins, and high quality.

Matt Klein, who built the foundation for the winery's success with his brother Fred from the beginning, later separated from his brother and started his own winery, Trinitas Cellars, with his wife Erin in 2001.

They then founded "Three Wine Company" in 2006 as the culmination of their work.

They focus on old, self-rooted vines that are the history of California itself, such as Zinfandel, Mataro, Petite Sirah, and Carignan, which are spread across the inland region of Contra Costa, which was once one of the centers of grape cultivation, and produce a small amount of wine named "three," which stands for "heaven, earth, and man."

Matt, a long-time friend of Hotei Wines, carefully crafts this wine using grapes from old vines over 100 years old, from the Prohibition era, to create a rich, complex flavor.
