Our story began in 1971 when our parents, Susan Sokol and Bill Blosser, planted their first vines in the now famous Dundee Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley.
As second generation winemakers, we are passionate about our family legacy of producing world class wines.
Our wines are made from organically grown grapes in a sustainable manner that puts the environment first.
It perfectly expresses the distinctive flavours of this hill vineyard.
Aromas of lemon zest, honeydew melon and warm vanilla.
The palate offers lively acidity and hints of Asian pear, Meyer lemon and minerals, culminating in a light, creamy finish.
2023 was the third warmest growing season on record behind 2015 and 2014.
August was one of the hottest and driest on record, and if it hadn't been for rain in early September, harvest would have begun before the Labor Day holiday on the first Monday of the month.
Thank goodness for the rain! What was particularly interesting about 2023 was that the first hail fell just after flowering.
This was the first time that hail had fallen on our vineyards since we began growing grapes in 1971.
We thought the yield would be higher than normal, but the hail kept it down to what we hoped for.
The fruit harvest was of excellent quality and the heat in August helped to lower the acidity in the grapes somewhat, resulting in wines with great fullness of flavour.
- Winemaker Robin Howell Our Chardonnay is made in true Oregon style, with minimal oak and fresh acidity.
Our goal is to bring out the beautiful flavors of our estate grown Chardonnay fruit and let the wine speak for itself.
Fermented primarily in new French oak barrels.
Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks while the lees are aged in highly toasted oak barrels.
When Sokol Blosser first planted vines in 1971, the wine industry was virtually nonexistent in Oregon.
Today, with over 1,100 wineries and 18,000 hectares of vineyards, Oregon wine can be enjoyed anywhere in the world.
Sokol Blosser is a family-owned winery that has been a leader in sustainable grape growing and business practices since the beginning of winemaking in Oregon.
Sokol Blosser is committed to producing world-class wines that express the distinctive flavors of our hillside vineyards while respecting the environment and our health.
This commitment to world-class quality and environmental awareness are Sokol Blosser's core values, and they not only practice organic farming, but also produce wines that are kind to the environment and the people who work there.
This initiative has been ongoing since the winery was founded, and in the fall of 2005 it received the prestigious official organic certification from the United States Department of Agriculture.
