Michel Coutoux is the son-in-law of Michel Niyon, a top producer in Chassagne-Montrachet.

Coutu was born in 1969 into a family of winegrowers in Touraine and graduated from the agricultural school of Beaune in 1987.

He then worked as a stager for Guy Amiot for two years and Bernard Morey for six months.

During that time, he met Mr. Nee Yong's second daughter and married her in 1991.

Currently, he manages and operates Domaine Michel Niyon in all aspects, from the fields to winemaking, together with his father-in-law, who has since announced his retirement.

Thanks to his work at this prestigious domaine, he got to know local wine growers and used those connections to establish this micro-négociant firm specializing in white wines from the Côte de Beaune.

"In my work as a négociant, I don't go into the fields myself, but I know very well who is doing a good job in each field.

He asserts that, ``I know all the producers, especially in Chassagne-Montrachet.''

By entering into long-term contracts with these outstanding grape growers, we are able to purchase grapes of the highest quality on a consistent basis.

Fermentation and aging take place in our own cellar.

A powerful and concentrated wine.

The first vintage was 1997.

Annual production is only about 20 barrels.
