From his native Georgia, through Languedoc to Burgundy. Louis Max has been discovering and identifying new wines since 1859, and has been examining the best wines from Burgundy and other regions. His boldness has brought Burgundy's know-how to the Languedoc region. This news reached the ears of David Duban, who has been running a domaine in Burgundy since 1991, and he met Maison Louis Max in 2014. David was initially appointed as a consultant, but he went beyond that and the Louis Max & David Duban project was launched. The passion for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay shared by both David Duban and Maison Louis Max, and their uncompromising spirit on quality, have pushed the quality of the wines they work on together to new heights.
Of the 50 or so grape varieties grown in the south of France, they chose Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, which are popular in Burgundy. The Languedoc region is located between the Mediterranean Sea and the Central Mountains, between the sea and the land, and is home to many microclimates that are exposed to the wind and the sun. The grapes are carefully selected and the winemaking is carried out under strict management. They aim to create a style reminiscent of Burgundy, with a focus on freshness and drinkability. To achieve this, they search for areas where the grapes are not overly ripe. In addition, a light extraction is used to highlight the fresh characteristics of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay.
