Aged 2/3 in French barrels, 1/3 in stainless steel tanks for about 9 months. This wine will make you feel like you're on a tropical beach. It has aromas of pineapple, mango, and lime peel with tropical flowers and roasted macadamia nuts and other attractive spices. It has a creamy mouthfeel with plenty of fruit and a clean acidity.
Debbie's Cuvee pursues the style of Bordeaux Blanc from first-growth Bordeaux chateaux, but does not use Semillon or other grapes; it is made using only Sauvignon Blanc in memory of Debbie, who loved Sauvignon Blanc so much.
Vintage Information
2021 was a year of favorable weather, with mild temperatures at the end of the growing season allowing for longer hang time. Small clusters and berries led to smaller yields, but otherwise it was a fine vintage and is expected to be one of the top vintages in Napa Valley. The reds are very rich and extracted, with great balance and freshness, and the whites are bright, fresh and flavorful. (Excerpt from the 2021 California Wine Board report)
Technical information
The grapes for Debys Cuvée are vinified with almost zero contact with oxygen to maximize the strength of the fruit. After whole-cluster pressing, they are fermented and aged in new French barrels (15 months).
Tasting Comments
Aromas of tropical fruits with golden skin, mango, pollen balls collected by bees, and shortbread. The taste of guava and candied mango is added with citrus acidity, and it is silky and rich, with a powerful structure and drive. When you put it in your mouth, it is full of gorgeous aromas and has a powerful force, but it is never too heavy, and the long aftertaste is impressive.
