Pale straw color. Gorgeous aromas of lemon, apple and cream, characteristic of the variety. Fragrant in the mouth, with a lingering apple flavor. Pleasant acidity and fresh fruitiness are attractive. Located in Rutars and Bukova, southwest of Mount Calvario. 180m above sea level. Stainless steel tanks are used. Traditionally, the grapes are cold soaked for 24 hours and pressed. After fermentation, they are "sur lie" until bottling. Gladys Chiutta is an up-and-coming cantina founded in 1997 in the Collio DOC in Friuli. It is located in Jasvana, south of San Floriano del Collio, just a 10-minute drive from Gravner and Radikon. The name Gladys Chiutta comes from the name of a hill in San Floriano del Collio, which in Latin means Monsilvi, or mountain of wine. The vineyards are located in three locations: Gorizia (center of Collio), Capriva del Friuli (center of Collio), and Dolegna del Collio (northern Collio), covering a total of 22 parcels (35 hectares). The area is at an altitude of 80 to 280 meters, with sandy and clay soils mixed with ancient limestone called Ponca, an annual rainfall almost the same as Burgundy (1,000 to 1,400 mm/year), and a low annual grape production of 6 to 8 tons/ha, which are the foundations for producing high quality wines. The owner and winemaker is Roberto Princic. His parents Ivanka and Zorko are landowners in the area and come from a family that has been engaged in agriculture here for many years. His son Roberto has been interested in wine since he was a child, and after graduating from winemaking school, he started making wine in 1997. Roberto believes in the potential of his vineyards and the terroir, and continues to make wine. Since 2013, he has been the leader of the Collio Consorzio and a representative winemaker in the area. Gladys Chiutta is currently highly regarded by wine experts and writers, including Decander magazine writer Richard Baudien and agricultural consultant Giovanni Bigo.
