The 2021 Seven Springs Pinot Noir is an exciting wine to drink.
It's very pure and elegant.
It has vibrant aromas of red fruits, rose petals, tea leaves and forests.
It is lively in the mouth, with well-balanced tannins and acidity that linger on the palate.
2021 was a fantastic vintage for Seven Springs in terms of both quality and quantity.
The wine is deep in color, has good acidity and is fresh.
The 2021 Seven Springs Pinot Noir grapes are mostly from old vines, own-rooted.
The vines are a Pommard clone planted in 1982 and are grown in iron-rich volcanic Jory soils.
The vineyards are grown without irrigation and all harvesting and sorting is done by hand.
Almost 100% of the grapes were destemmed.
No pump-overs or punch-downs were performed during fermentation.
It was aged for 7 months in old barriques and bottled unfiltered and unfined.
"Evening Land" is a symbol of the continuing quest for the perfect garden.
From the time of Greek mythology to the present day, the Evening Land has been synonymous with adventure and romance, inevitably leading to the American West Coast.
Located in the Eola-Amity Hills of Oregon's Willamette Valley, Seven Springs Vineyards' 80 acres (32 ha) are grown to Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Gamay Noir.
The vineyard, wholly owned by Evening Land, is known as one of Oregon's finest vineyards and has been named one of the top 10 vineyards in America by Food & Wine magazine.
This is also a special vineyard, described by Wine Advocate magazine as "one of Oregon's finest, producing grapes of consistent quality every year."
Seven Springs, located on an east-facing slope, was planted in 1983 and the soil is typical Oregon volcanic red clay.
The ratio of young to old vines is perfectly balanced, with different microclimates resulting in a wide variety of grapes being harvested.
They produce a complete estate wine range from their own biodynamically farmed Seven Springs vineyards.
When Evening Land was first established, it became known as the first winemaking project overseas for Dominique Lafon of Comtes Lafon, a great producer of Mursault in Burgundy and one of the top five white wine producers in the world.
Evening Land is currently managed and brewed by Raja Parr, the entrepreneur who heads the popular winery Domaine de la Cote in Santa Rita Hills, California, and talented winemaker Sashi Moorman.
Under their influence, the wines have become very European in style, and it is no exaggeration to say that this is now the most talked about winery in Oregon.
