Shiny salmon pink. In addition to the gorgeous fruity aroma of peaches and cherries, it also has the aroma of fresh herbs and limestone minerals. It has a good balance of fresh, juicy berry fruitiness, gentle acidity, and clear minerality. Dominio de Eguren is a bodega specializing in table wines run by the Eguren family, who have produced numerous super Spanish wines, including "Termancia," the first Spanish wine to receive a perfect score of 100 points from Wine Advocate, and "El Puntido," which was selected as the best wine of 2007 by Wine Enthusiast.
In the 1980s, when Dominio de Eguren was founded with the desire to "supply the market with stable, inexpensive, high-quality wines," the price of Rioja wines was rising by about 3% every year due to inflation caused by the growth of the Spanish economy, so the company searched for vineyards in other regions of Spain, rather than in Rioja, where the Eguren family is based. Sticking to the policy from the time of the company's founding, the price has not changed since 1996.
The grapes currently used at Dominio de Eguren come from contracted farmers who adhere to the Eguren style, including cultivation methods and harvesting seasons. They are harvested in Manchuela, Castilla-La Mancha. The fields are located at an altitude of 700-900m, with an annual rainfall of about 400mm, making it very dry and free of disease concerns. As such, they do not use pesticides, nor do they use copper or sulfur, and although they are not certified, they are cultivated in a way that can be called organic. As with all wines produced by the Eguren family, all of the grapes for Dominio de Eguren are hand-picked.
