Cuvee: Refreshing and well-balanced in style.
A pleasant fruity flavour.
A rich aroma reminiscent of a basket full of red fruits.
I also sense a hint of pain d'épices.
Simple flavour and smooth mouthfeel.
Harmonious, approachable and juicy.
Drinkability lasts for about 5 years.
7ha, 20 plots (Malvall, Chavanay).
Yield: 35hl/ha.
100% de-stemmed.
The soil is granite.
Field work is primarily done by hand.
The goal is to harvest grapes in good condition and at full maturity in order to express the terroir.
We practice yield and canopy management, as well as working to improve air circulation around the grape clusters.
The grapes are fully destemmed to express elegance, and cold maceration is performed to bring out the fruitiness.
The temperature is raised to 30°C and the wine is soaked before fermentation, then MLF in barriques.
It is extracted gently, giving the wine a finely textured tannin feel.
Aged in oak barrels for 15 months.
No new barrels are used.
Pierre Gaillard aspired to be a winemaker and joined Vidal Fleury in 1981.
In 1982, the Turck vineyard, said to be the revival vineyard of Côte Rotie, was cleared and the vines were replanted.
At the same time, he purchased the Clos de Cuminaille vineyards in 1981 and the Cote Rotie Rogier vineyards in 1982, and founded his own domaine.
In 1986 Vidal Fleury was acquired by Guigal and Gaillard left the company that same year after completing the fermentations at Turck to focus on the Domaine.
It is a pioneer of the new generation of Rhone domaines, having received high praise upon its first release in 1985.
We have large vineyards that we can keep an eye on and a brewery equipped with modern facilities.
We practice the lutte raisonnée method and aim to produce wines that combine the concentrated fruitiness typical of the Rhone region with the delicate and elegant flavors of Burgundy from a good year.
