The wine is made from grapes from the Ridgeline Vineyard in Alexander Valley, as well as Mendocino, Monterey and Paso Robles. Aged for 15 months in French barrels (40% new barrels). It has a delicious freshness right from the release, with seamless smooth tannins, pleasant acidity and a lingering finish.
Since 1978, Duckhorn has explored the character and complexity of Cabernet Sauvignon.
This wine is made by a brewing team backed by long experience, and is rich in flavor and well-expressed in its varietal appeal.
Immediately after release, the wine is full-bodied and very easy to drink.
Vintage Information
Overall, the 2020 growing season was excellent.
After a relatively dry winter, bud break began early and the weather was mild throughout the spring and summer.
This allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in pure, lively flavours and a supple, full-bodied texture.
Although hot weather continued in mid-August, it helped the white wine grapes ripen quickly, resulting in an excellent harvest.
Rising temperatures in late September helped the red wine grapes to ripen to the final extent and harvest was timed to avoid the wildfires that occurred around the same time.
To ensure quality, Duckhorn thoroughly inspects and selects its products, eliminating any that do not meet its standards.
As a result, no wildfire affected grapes make it into the finished wine.
Meticulous selection resulted in small yields but wines with beautiful aromas, soft and elegant textures, lively fruit and rich, complex flavours.
