The wine name "BARDEN" is the owner Doug Marjram's middle name, and in English it means "living near the boar's roost". The label features a wild boar, which is often seen in the fields managed by Doug. Baden wines are wines that directly resonate with people's sensibilities. This wine is a wine that you feel with your brain, body, and soul, and it is no exaggeration to say that only people with a keen sense of sensitivity can understand it. The Baden brand makes wines that cannot be made at Marjram Wine Company, whose motto is handmade and rich in individuality. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and white blend, this is a reckless challenge to the "world" in a sense, like living near the boar's roost. There are aromas of dark cherry, beetroot, rhubarb, baking spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, and juniper. This Pinot Noir has a black fruit flavor, with olive and cherry liqueur aromas, and a wonderful texture with a structure from the acidity and fine tannins from the barrels. 2013 was a very good year. There was almost no rain in the winter, and the weather was dry and dry. Buds came out earlier than usual, and the grape clusters were more numerous than usual. The harvest was generally warm throughout the growing season, and the weather was mild and dry. The 2013 wine was harvested when the grapes were fully ripe before the sugar content of the grapes increased too much. It is characterized by a low alcohol content and a rich, concentrated taste that reflects the individuality of the variety. The grapes are hand-selected, cold-soaked for 6 to 10 days, and fermented with natural yeast using only free-run grapes. 30% of the wine is fermented with whole bunches, and no SO2 is added during aging, and it is bottled unfiltered and unclarified. The wine is aged for a total of 10 months in 36% new barrels from F. Frères and Ermitage, 36% one-year-old barrels, and 27% three-year-old barrels. Doug Margerum's interest in food and wine began when he traveled to France and Italy with his parents, who loved to travel. He then trained in both the kitchen and on the floor of restaurants during his high school and college years, deepening his knowledge of food and wine culture. In 1981, when Doug graduated from UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara), his family purchased Wine Cask, a wine shop and commercial brewing equipment dealer. Doug then opened a small bistro next to the wine shop, but in 1996, due to the bistro's popularity, he moved Wine Cask to El Paseo in Santa Barbara and expanded the business. Doug, who was involved in creating the menu as a sommelier and chef, created his dishes based on his experience and knowledge of food cultures around the world that he had cultivated in his youth, and they were California cuisine, incorporating elements of Asian and Mexican cuisine. The restaurant was featured in various media as a restaurant where you can enjoy the best food and wine in a warm and relaxed atmosphere. In 1994, Wine Cask won the Grand Award from Wine Spectator magazine, joining the ranks of restaurants with the world's best wine lists. In 2007, the popularity of the wine he made as a hobby while running the restaurant sparked, and he decided to sell Wine Cask and focus on running the winery. With the motto of handmade, Majram Wine Company makes unique wines. In recent years, they have been producing small quantities of high-quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir under the BARDEN brand. This is a super wine that only Doug, who is known as a lover of French wine, could make.
