Late spring rains during the flowering period resulted in lighter fruit set than usual. This resulted in exceptional concentration and retention of flavor and complex aromas. Mild autumn temperatures encouraged natural ripening of the fruit, allowing the tannins to be slowly adjusted, resulting in a harvest with ideal sugar content. 2019 has become an excellent vintage that will allow you to enjoy the changes that will occur with long-term aging.

Grape Source:

23% Rutherford

19% Calistoga

24% single vineyard mountain grapes (20% Diamond Mountain, 2% Oakville, 2% other mountain fruits)

34% Napa Valley

Barrel ageing: 18 months in French oak barrels (35% new). Night harvest, sorting, and 3 days cold soaking at 50°F in stainless steel fermentation tanks. 15 days in tanks, average fermentation temperature 85-88°F. Free run and very light pressing in small barrels for malolactic fermentation. Yeast A33, pump over 3 times a day at 8 hour intervals.

Notes of espresso, blueberry, and ripe cherry linger on the nose. Silky and voluminous on the palate, with expressive flavors of blackberry and cocoa. Fine tannins support the fruit layers, providing a smooth texture and complexity. The finish is long and lingering.

Provenance Vineyards started in 1999 and quickly gained a reputation as a Cabernet house in Napa Valley. The Italian-born founding family had a vision to produce "provenance," a true premium Napa wine with authentic origins, and they were successful. Since then, several companies have taken over the management, and in November 2021, the Lombardi family, who run Allen Lombardi in Lodi, inherited the brand.

Allen Lombardi is a winery founded by East Coast native Thomas Allen, who was searching for high-quality vineyards in California and purchased a vineyard in Lodi. They were attracted by Provenance's rich history, timeless style, and strong growth potential, and inherited the winery. They will continue to tell more Napa wine lovers around the world about the greatness of this wine.
