Mollydooker grapes are grown under the Marquis Water Program™, which Sparky Marquis has researched and developed over many years. Here, the grapes used are also used by contract farmers other than their own vineyards. Their grapes, which are harvested later than the surrounding vineyards, are tested by Marquis Fruit Weight™ many times from the growth stage, and only those that meet the standards are used. Sparky, who had built a career as a photographer, and Sarah, whose parents run a winery, met at university and started a wine business in 1991 with a total of $1,000 and big dreams. They were successful as bulk wine producers, but their success did not last long due to the collapse of grape prices. They then launched the "MarquisPhilips" brand with a new business partner and achieved great success again. Robert Parker Jr. praised it, saying, "It's the most valuable red wine in existence.
