Blue Eye Boy is Luke, the son of Sarah Marquise, the head of the family. The boy who used to hop grapes as a child has now grown into the leader of Mollydooker's sales force.
The berry and spice flavors of the grapes from Jopich Vineyard in Langhorne Creek, a cool climate, create an appealing taste for Blue Eye Boy. Blended with McLaren Vale Shiraz, it brings strength, vitality and richness. This year's McLaren Vale grapes come from Coppermine Road, Gateway, Long Gully Road and Home G Block. All vineyards are sustainably farmed.
Marquise Fruit Weight™
Standard: 75%-85% Actual: 79%
Marquise Fruit Weight™ is Molly Ducker's unique indicator and guarantee of quality, measuring the percentage of fruit that smoothly covers the tongue and throat before any of the wine's flavor components are felt.
Powerful aromas of blueberry, plum, liquorice and chocolate biscuit nuances jump out of the glass. The seamless texture combines fresh berries, coffee, vanilla cream and warm spices in a full-bodied Shiraz with boundless depth and wonderful length.
Mollydooker in McLaren Vale is a winery on the rise. It is a cult wine in Australia, but no one can match it as a winery that offers value that far exceeds its affordable price. It has already been ranked in the top 10 twice since its establishment by Wine Spectator, with an average score of 94 points. In 2014, Carnival of Love 2012 was ranked second. Behind these glorious high evaluations is their thorough approach to winemaking. Mollydooker grapes are grown under the Marquis Water Program™, which Sparky Marquis has researched and developed over many years. Here, the grapes used are also used by contract farmers other than their own vineyards. Their grapes, which are harvested later than the surrounding vineyards, are tested by Marquis Fruit Weight™ many times from the growth stage, and only those that meet the standards are used. Marquis Fruit Weight™ is a unique index that represents the percentage of fruit that covers the smooth sensation from the tip of the tongue to the back of the throat before you can feel the components that make up the taste of the wine. They do not tolerate compromise on quality, and only ship wines that exceed the standard values they have set, so the quality is always stable, and the result is that they have received many high evaluations.
Sparky, who had built a career as a photographer, and Sarah, whose parents run a winery, met at university and started a wine business in 1991 with a total of $1,000 and big dreams. They were successful as bulk wine producers, but their success did not last long due to the collapse of grape prices. They then launched the "MarquisPhilips" brand with a new business partner and achieved great success again. Robert Parker Jr. praised it, saying, "It's the most valuable red wine in existence. You can't just walk around and grab as many bottles as you can, even if you have to run!" However, the business grew bigger than they had imagined, so Sarah and Sparky decided to go back to the basics when they first started winemaking and limit production to a level they could manage themselves. Mollydooker, which was launched in 2005, is an Australian slang word that means "left-handed". In order to enjoy everything about their business with the whole family, they paid attention to every detail, from the label pictures to the names, and each one is filled with precious memories.
