COMMENT
This is a long-established maison in Sancerre, a famous wine-producing region in the Loire region, which has been in business since 1850. The maison owns many vineyards with "silex" soil, where the best wines in Sancerre are made, and produces wines that can be aged for a long time, with an emphasis on terroir. The owner, Henri Bourgeois, is a great Japanophile and has visited Japan more than 60 times.
Les Vignes de Beausope is made from grapes from a small plot of just 1.25 hectares on Silex soil. The Sauvignon Blanc vines from this plot are old, making it ideal for producing a wine that perfectly combines finesse and complexity.
WINEMAKING
The wines are hand-picked, then débourbage and fermented. No malolactic fermentation is performed. The wines are aged on the lees for 9 months. The first 4 months are batonnage regularly.
