Joseph Carr, who has been active in the wine industry for over 20 years, including working as a world-class sommelier, founded Joseph Carr Wines to pursue his dream of making wine in California. Two years later, in 2007, he launched Josh Cellars, named after his father's nickname Josh, in tribute to his father. Joseph Carr is inspired by his father's values, who was a hard-working American soldier and volunteer firefighter, and who valued the importance of family and compassion. After the release of Joseph Cellars, it quickly became very popular as a high-quality yet affordable wine. Although it started out with just one Cabernet Sauvignon variety, it now produces a variety of varieties. Since 2010, Wayne Donaldson has joined the company as a winemaker. After nearly 30 years of training in wineries around the world, he is now based in Napa Valley and continues to make cost-effective wines using high-quality grapes from California. It has received numerous high scores of over 90 points from famous rating magazines such as Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and Wine Advocate. In 2019, it recorded the No. 1 ranking in the United States for wine sales of $11 or more, and continues to grow as the No. 1 brand in the United States in terms of sales growth rate. In 2021, it was selected as "American Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast magazine, reigning as the top brand in the United States.
