Made from grapes from Rutherford's own vineyards and nearby vineyards (52%), Lake County (48%). Fermented and aged in stainless steel tanks at low temperatures. Juicy and refreshing medium body. Aromas of white peach, lemongrass, and a hint of jasmine, with grapefruit and lime flavors. The 22VTG does not have a cap seal for eco-friendly reasons.
Technical information
Vineyard: 58% Napa County, 42% Lake County grapes.
Harvesting: 20 days later than the previous year, starting on August 22nd and ending on September 25th. Harvesting took place in the cool of the night or early morning to preserve the aroma and flavor of the fruit.
Brewing and fermentation: To enhance the tropical fruity nuances, the grapes were gently pressed from the whole bunches and the juice was left overnight before being racked.
All of the juice was fermented using several types of yeast in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15 to 18 degrees, and then aged on the lees in stainless steel tanks.
Tasting Comments
Bright and attractive floral, pear, citrus, jasmine and grapefruit, lemongrass and kaffir lime aromas, with a pleasant tropical touch.
Perfect balance from the first attack to the long finish.
The back label depicts the Rutherford vineyards as seen from owner Michael Honig's home, and the idea is to view the landscape through the bottle glass and the wine, making it a popular design full of fresh charm.
In light of environmental reasons, the use of cap seals will be discontinued from the 2022 vintage.
