Made from old vine Chenin Blanc planted in the 1970s on the Central Coast.
Grapes from Cat Canyon (organically grown), Jurassic Park (sustainably farmed), and Shell Creek (organically grown) are used.
The grapes are harvested in their entirety, then immediately pressed and fermented with native yeasts on the lees in 1000L German oak fuerte and neutral acacia barrels.
Sustainable/Wild yeast/Vegan/No additives/Minimal SO2 added
The refreshing aroma of Meyer lemon, quince, lime peel, and subtle chamomile accents are perfectly matched with the rich depth of aging in acacia and oak barrels and the minerality of oyster shells.
Field Recordings are a collection of wines that Andrew Jones recorded as he walked the fields and people he encountered.
Jones won a scholarship to college because of his talent for American football, and majored in agricultural management, where he discovered viticulture. Jones became so fascinated with viticulture that he worked as an intern at Gallo on the Sonoma Coast, and in his own words, "I was totally hooked!" He then worked part-time at a grapevine nursery while graduating from college, and continued to work there after.
I traveled all over California for work, especially to producers on the Central Coast and in the San Joaquin Valley, and while millions of new vines are planted every year, I was given enough grapes to make my own wine. As I developed my eye for the quality of the vineyards and grapes and acquired the skills to make wine, I began to encounter grapes that were as wonderful as diamonds in the rough, even if they were not well known, and began to make high-quality wines using those grapes. Every vineyard and every wine has its own story. "Field Recordings" uses grapes from a single vineyard and records the land and terroir as wine. I bottled the great potential of the grapes from several vineyards as "Wonderwall".
He is not limited by the fame of the region or vineyard, but instead focuses on grapes of high quality and searches for wines that meet his criteria. The wines made from grapes that meet his criteria have their own individual personalities, and even though they are of different varieties and produced in different places, they all maintain the same quality standards, allowing you to experience the quality of the grapes.
