COMMENT
Based in the village of Morey-Saint-Denis, this domaine owns 18 hectares in the Côte de Nuits. Frédéric, the fifth generation owner, has been proactively implementing biodynamic farming methods and improving the quality of his wines with his own unique methods, such as using wooden barrels and terracotta jars for aging. He is highly regarded by other winemakers and is one of the leading winemakers in the Côte de Nuits today.
Although it is possible to use Pinot Noir from the wider Burgundy region, Magnen produces a luxurious cuvée using only Pinot Noir from its own Côte de Nuits region. In order to further improve the quality, the winery sometimes uses downgraded village wines.
WINEMAKING
The grapes are hand-picked and carefully selected, and the wine is vinified in stainless steel and concrete tanks.
