15 years old. 1.75ha. Mikasist soil. Yield 40hl/ha. Lower slope of the Grand Place vineyard. 100% destemmed. 4 weeks maceration. Aged 22 months in 500hl barrels (70% new). Jean-Michel has used his own name as the domaine name since 1987, and his reputation and popularity have skyrocketed since the mid-1990s, and he is now one of the leading producers in Côte Rotie. He says that "grape cultivation is the most important element in wine production," and cultivates grapes in as close to natural conditions as possible, while keeping the yield (24-30hl/ha) low, selecting and brewing fully ripe and healthy grapes. From 2020, he has started a new challenge by cultivating grapes using organic methods. Aged for 12-24 months in 30-100% new barrels. The red wine is 100% Syrah (with 5-10% Viognier mixed in), and the white wine is 100% Viognier.
