7 hectares in the center of Lirac, on the right bank of the Rhône River. Limestone with red clay, gravel, sand and pebbles on the surface. Grapes selected twice in the field and cellar. Destemmed, fermented at controlled temperature, aged in concrete and large barrels. Bottled approximately 18 months after harvest. The Domaine is located at the northernmost tip of the Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC. Owning 21 hectares of 18 plots (3 plots in VV), it is now one of the leading winemakers in the region. The Armenier sisters, who took over the vineyards from their father, are in charge of cultivating the vineyards, while their younger sister Sophie is in charge of winemaking. The name "Armenier" is one of the oldest families in the Pape, recorded in 1340. In 1990, the eldest brother Philippe also joined the Domaine, but left to teach biodynamic cultivation in California, and the Armenier sisters have since been in charge of all cultivation and brewing. They started using biodynamic methods in 1994. Currently, they are certified Biologique, but the cultivation method is biodynamic. 100% of the grapes are destemmed. The yield is kept to 25-30hl/ha, so the fruit is concentrated, and the wines, which are cultivated and brewed using traditional and modern methods, have received very high praise for both red and white.
