This Pinot Noir expresses the charm of the cool climate of Monterey to the fullest. The 2015 vintage was created by Sarah Steiner, who was the winemaker at Calera.

All the grapes are destemmed and fermented with wild yeast for 7 days. Maceration continues for another 7 days.

Aged for 8 months in stainless steel tanks and French oak, filtered and bottled.

Plum, ripe cherry, lavender aromas accented with fragrant spices. Full-bodied yet complex fruitiness, soft oak aromas appear on the finish for a well-balanced finish. Classic Pinot Noir style.

Four generations of Divam share the same passion to live, breathe and work on the farmland of the Salinas Valley.

The Francioni family has been running vineyards in Monterey for four generations, and currently brothers Tom and Rob Francioni are at the forefront of producing the family's private brand, Divam.

Specializing in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, two varieties best suited to the Monterey region, they pride themselves on producing wines of the highest quality, using only select fruit from one of their three sustainably-farmed, certified vineyard blocks.

ThePlace

The Monterey AVA is known for the influence of Monterey Canyon, the deepest underwater canyon on the West Coast of the United States.

The canyon creates a phenomenon known as updrafts, where winds push warmer water near the surface, away from the shore, and cooler water near the bottom of the canyon, closer to the surface. The cold water chills the wind blowing over the ocean, which creates fog when it hits land.

Each morning as the sun rises, the southern end of the Salinas Valley warms up and a low pressure system pushes cool, foggy air over the ocean and down the valley. Over the course of the day, the valley gradually warms from 10 to 21 degrees, creating ideal conditions for growing cool weather varietals.

The effects of updrafts are felt throughout Monterey County, but because our vineyards are located at the foot of the Gavilan Mountains, the fog does not last as long in the balanced areas of the valley. In our vineyards, the transition from hot daytime temperatures to cool nighttime air is more drastic, which, combined with longer hang times, allows the varietal characteristics to shine through even more.
