D2 is named after the Great Wine Route, which runs through the historic Château region of Bordeaux.
D2 produces traditional Bordeaux-style blends based on Merlot grapes from over 15 premium vineyards in the Columbia Valley, including renowned vineyards such as Ciel du Cheval, Grand Ciel and Clipson, to deliver wines that showcase the full range of Washington State terroir.
First produced in 1992 as Chaleur Estate's second wine, D2 is the winery's most popular label.
The 2021 D2 shows the promise of this vintage, with deep concentration and exceptional quality.
Initial aromas of blackberry, cassis and green peppercorn lead to a beautifully rich and textured palate.
The wine's fine, delicate tannins make it approachable from a young age, yet it has the firmness and structure to withstand aging for 15 years or more.
Flavors of red currant, American cherry and toasty oak unfold over time, culminating in an impressive, full-bodied, long finish.
Cheers to D2's 30th vintage! After a 24-36 hour cold soak, the wine is fermented on the skins for 12-14 days and aged for 18 months in French oak (55% new).
