A red blend born from the passion of the Italian owner for winemaking. Perfect with pizza or pasta.
The weather in 2021 was perfect, with mild temperatures at the end of the growing season, allowing the grapes to ripen to their full potential. Hang times were longer than normal, yields were slightly lower, and the berries were smaller but had more complex flavors. This was truly a great vintage.
The aroma of raspberries and plums is accented with hints of balsamic vinegar and coffee. The flavors of ripe berries and cherries are complemented by complex layers of vanilla, caramel, and cigar box from the oak barrels.
Ca'Momi - "House of Fir" in Italian - is the name of the original owners of the vineyard in Italy owned by three partners: Dario De Conti, Stefano Migotto, and Valentina Guolo Migotto. They founded Ca'Momi Winery in 2006 to spread wine and food culture rooted in Italian traditions in the Napa Valley of the United States.
Dario, originally from Veneto, started working in winemaking at the age of 14, earning tuition while working at a pizzeria run by a relative, and earning a doctorate in enology at university. Stefano was born into a family of three generations of vintners in northern Italy, and has been involved in winemaking since he was a child. After studying enology at university, he moved to the United States with the 12 years of winemaking experience he had built up locally. Valentina, who had a strong independent spirit, moved to California in 1997 with the dream of making a name for herself in America.
The wines they make are wines that you drink with your family in an Italian home while eating a meal. Just as delicious food is made from good ingredients, wines made from high-quality grapes are wines that you would want to share with your precious family and friends. There is no need for unnecessary decoration or complicated explanations. The wines the three of them aim to make are wines that anyone can enjoy casually and that go well with food. Eventually, they came to think that in order to make the wines they make even more enjoyable, they needed a place where people could enjoy high-quality food along with their wines, rather than an ordinary tasting room in wine country.
Valentina, a chef and artist, opened a pizzeria and restaurant in Napa Valley that will make you feel like you're eating in an Italian restaurant, and will truly express the taste of Italy. This restaurant is officially certified by the Italian Neapolitan Pizza Association AVPN, and you can enjoy authentic Neapolitan pizza, which is one of only about 500 restaurants that have this certification, including Italy, and only 76 in the United States. Dario and Stefano, who have long careers in winemaking in their native Italy, have built good relationships with farms that grow high-quality grapes in Napa Valley, and are making New World wines while preserving Italian traditions.
They currently have three vineyards in Carneros, all of which are organically grown. One of them, Cresendo Vineyard, is about 12 acres and includes old vines planted by Kent Rasmussen in the 1970s. In addition, they grow Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, etc. at the Cercand Vineyard, located about one mile (about 1.6 km) north of Cresendo, and at the Wild Horse Valley vineyard, located 1,400 feet (about 427 meters) above sea level. Their wines, made from grapes from their own vineyards and carefully selected farms, are infused with the three winemakers' commitment to good wine and their passion for food culture, which is more important than anything to Italians, and are expressed in their bold and rich flavors.
