99% of wine grapes grown in Washington State are grown in the Columbia Valley, of which 2,773 hectares are unique to the Columbia Valley and do not overlap with any other sub-AVA in the state. The 2021 Washington State growing season saw record warm summer temperatures, ultimately resulting in a promising vintage with exceptional quality and flavor. Ten days of extreme heat in early summer raised the temperature in the vineyards, which actually helped prevent the spread of diseases in the vines. Luckily, our field teams and their techniques were able to overcome the heat and avoid any damage. Veraison began a few days earlier than last year in all of our own vineyards. Moderate yields, with small, perfectly ripe berries, are characteristic throughout our Washington vineyards. The white wines, especially the aromatic ones, express high, palatable acidity, great minerality and very fruity and floral aromas. Since its launch in 1988, Washington Hills wines have won numerous awards and established themselves as the leader in casual wine in Washington. Made from Washington State's top varietals, this wine has excellent fruit flavor and balanced acidity, making it the perfect everyday wine. In addition, the screw cap makes it convenient to enjoy with friends and family in a variety of situations.
