A transparent yellow-gold appearance. Fruity aromas of pear and yellow peach with a hint of lime. You can feel the fresh fruitiness of ripe apples and loquats, clean acidity, and soft minerals, with a slight astringency of tannins on the finish. Francesca Bidini is a female winemaker from Arezzo. She started working in agriculture in 2005, and founded "Podere Ortica" near her hometown of Arezzo in 2015 with the idea of making additive-free wine and supporting the richness of the region.

The policy of "Podere Ortica" is to "grow crops organically and live as part of the natural cycle." In order to increase the humus in the soil, the fields are covered with various kinds of wild grasses such as clover, and the green manure of broad beans increases the supply of nitrogen to the soil, creating rich soil.

Podere Ortica covers an area of approximately 30 hectares, of which 7 hectares are vineyards and 2 hectares are olive groves. It is located at an altitude of approximately 280m - 530m and the soil is a mixture of various geological types, including limestone, clay, silt, sand and galestro.

Special notes on brewing

The winemaking direction is to aim for a "traditional" taste, but to achieve that, they don't do anything special. They just "hand-harvest healthy, ripe grapes, select only the best ones, destemm them, ferment, and bottle after minimal racking," making "traditional" wine with the help of modern equipment and painstaking effort. Antioxidants are not added, or are used only as little as necessary.
