Originally launched as part of Karl Strauss' Small Batch program, it sold out within days of its unprecedented launch.
Since then, it has been brewed several times, but each time it has become a hit product that sells out quickly.
As evidence of this, Karl Strauss's official Instagram has been featured as one of the most responsive posts, with a whopping 1,500 ratings on Untappd, and a bronze medal at the National IPA Championship hosted by Brewing News. Popularity is skyrocketing.
Finally, in 2019, Boat Shoes Hazy IPA officially joined the ranks as a standard product.
Regarding the name “Boat Shoes,” Sean Albrecht, head brewer of Karl Strauss and creator of the Boat Shoes, said:
“I was in the eastern United States attending the CBC (Craft Brewers Conference) and everyone in town was wearing boat shoes and the word boat shoes stuck in my head.
Hazy IPA is a refreshing and easy-drinking beer, so I thought the name Boat Shoes would be perfect for that style.
Who doesn't feel uncomfortable wearing boat shoes? ” Refreshing citrus aromas such as grapefruit and lemon and fruity aromas such as mango and pineapple combine to drift from the glass.
The palate, like the aroma, is led by citrus flavors, followed by the sweetness of fruit and the bitterness of hops.
The body is medium, with a juicy creamy feel, yet crisp and refreshing to drink.
An easy-drinking Hazy IPA with a lingering hop bitterness.
