Fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged for 24 months in French and American barrels (20% new barrels). A well-balanced Merlot with firm fruitiness and mint and herbal aromas. Accented with spices, this is a bottle you'll never tire of.
A Bordeaux right bank style (Merlot dominated style from St Emilion and Pomerol) blend.
California's Right Bank Bordeaux blend is a style pioneered by founder Walter Schug when he was winemaker for Joseph Phelps for 10 years from 1973.
The Merlot is sourced from the Rancho Salina vineyards, located at an altitude of 270 meters on Moon Mountain.
The Merlot from this vineyard gives the wine a balanced combination of depth, elegance and pleasant acidity.
The Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc are also sourced from Rancho Salina and the 170-year-old Atwood Ranch, also located in Moon Mountain, and provide structure and rounded tannins to the wine.
