From our own Rector Creek vineyard, located at the northernmost point of Yountville, on the border with Oakville. The fields surrounding the Paradax winery are on rocky soil. Aged for 18 months in 100% French barrels (60% new barrels). The wild berry and tobacco leaf elements characteristic of Petit Verdot and the raspberry and spice aromas characteristic of Zinfandel are in perfect balance.
The Vineyard Series is made exclusively from grapes grown in the rocky soils of Rector Creek Vineyard, which surrounds Paradax Winery.
This limited edition wine is a unique, inspired addition to Paradax's contemporary and innovative style red blend.
The wine is a perfect balance of wild berry and tobacco leaf notes from the prized Block 4 Petit Verdot and raspberry and spice aromas from the Rector Creek Zinfandel.
Vintage Information
The season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring.
As a result, bud budding and flowering were slightly later than usual, but the cool, stable summer without any major heat waves and mild weather in late autumn allowed for a long hang time that allowed the flavors to mature ideally.
The red varieties have slightly above average yields and are bright, well-balanced with smooth, elegant tannins and fresh, lively flavours.
Tasting Comments
A rich, complex wine with enchanting aromas of lavender, fig, blackberry, licorice, cocoa powder and coffee, as well as hints of spice and caramel.
The palate is full-bodied with plump, supple tannins and sumptuous flavors of blackberry, cassis, tobacco leaf, molasses and saddle leather, leading to a long, powerful finish.
