Roberts Road Vineyard owned by San Giacomo is located on a gentle slope facing west at the foot of Sonoma Mountains. It is also mixed with slightly reddish clay soil. 75% stainless steel fermentation, 25% French wooden barrel fermentation, then aged for 14 months in French barrels (40% new barrels). The aroma of raspberry, cherry, and strawberry blends with the aroma of anise, cinnamon, and cedar. The enchanting tannins create a delicate and transparent liquor, and the balanced acidity enhances the aftertaste.

Vintage Information

The 2021 vintage was a very dry year.

However, there was no heatwave and the fruit was able to ripen slowly.

At San Giacomo, the vines do not tire even when the temperature rises.

That shows how well-tailored and well-maintained they are.

Technical information

Clones: 777, 115, Swan

We believe that in order to pair with Japanese cuisine, which maximizes the potential of fresh seasonal ingredients, it is necessary to produce a red wine that combines transparency, delicacy, and freshness.

Based on the idea that Pinot Noir is the red wine that can meet these requirements, all three red wines currently being released by Noria are Pinot Noir.

Among them, the Sonoma Coast Cuvee is characterized by its plump, soft and natural spice aroma.

This is a blend of Swan clone, which has rich acidity, 777 clone, which expresses both the delicacy and richness of the fruit, and 115 clone, which produces a solid liquor quality.

Winemaking: Natural yeast used, 75% stainless steel tank/25% fermentation in new French barrels, aged for 14 months in French barrels (50% new). Unfiltered, unfined.

Tasting Comments

Elegant aromas of raspberry and dark cherry are interwoven with notes of anise, toffee, rose blossom and cedar.

The mouthfeel is smooth and the flavors of ripe red berries spread throughout the mouth.

Soft tannins and refined oak impart a pleasant spice and complexity, while balanced acidity further enhances the finish.

Field Information

The estate owns several vineyards in Petaluma Gap, an area in the southern part of the Sonoma Coast where cool ocean mist and winds blow directly into through a gap in the coastal mountain range.

When I used to work at Artesa, we used grapes from San Giacomo.

Since then, he has become a big fan of the San Giacomo family and was eager to use their grapes when he launched Noria.

Nakamura has been making wine from this vineyard since 2010, when he first established Noria.

Roberts Road Vineyard: Sand, gravel and slightly reddish clay

This Pinot Noir comes from San Giacomo's own Roberts Road Vineyard, located midway between Santa Rosa and Petaluma on the gentle slopes of the Sonoma Mountains.

Located about 20km inland from the coastline, there is a gentle breeze and plenty of sunshine.

The soil is a mixture of sand, gravel and slightly reddish clay, providing good drainage.

Planted in 1998.

For cultivation management purposes, the rows are planted from east to west to avoid direct sunlight.
