The Sharon AVA is located near Monterey and has rare limestone soil in California. Brosseau Vineyard is located at an altitude of 550m, and the soil is a mixture of limestone and granite, which gives it a unique concentrated flavor, a mineral taste reminiscent of stone, and a spicy complexity that perfectly expresses the terroir. The smooth mouthfeel gives off a layered taste of concentrated red berries, and the fine tannins, fresh acidity, and unique minerality harmonize to create a pleasant aftertaste that deepens in depth.
Vintage Information
A warm, dry winter was followed by a mild spring, which led to early bud break and mild summer conditions which allowed the grapes to ripen slowly.
Hot weather in mid-August helped the white grapes ripen quickly, resulting in an excellent harvest.
Although the wildfires occurred late in the season, this Brosseau vineyard is at a high altitude and not affected by fog, allowing for an early harvest, so it was ready to be harvested when the fires occurred and was able to be harvested before the smoke damage occurred.
