Cabernet Sauvignon 85%, Cabernet Franc 10%, Merlot 5%. Selected from high altitude vineyards in Napa, mainly Stagecoach. Each vineyard is kept at low temperature for 5 days in small tanks, then fermented with natural yeast. Aged for 22 months in French barrels (50% new barrels). Rich aromas of dark fruits such as plums, blackberries, and cherries, with minerality like tanned leather and granite. Lively acidity brings freshness in the mouth, soft tannins and a velvety mouthfeel. Enjoyable immediately, but will age beautifully for 15 years or more.
Vintage Information
Despite lower than average yields, winemakers are vouching for the quality of the 2017 vintage.
The year started with abundant rain.
The spring was mild and winter rains allowed the vines to grow vigorously.
A hot spell in the first week of September got the harvest going in earnest, but the weather soon cooled off and sugar levels returned to normal.
The remaining grapes were picked over the next few weeks, finishing on October 6th, just two days before the 2017 wildfires began.

Tasting Comments
Fresh and powerful, with a great mouthfeel and long finish, this wine is very approachable even in its youth.
It has amazing depth even when drunk now, and expresses the characteristics of classic Napa Cabernet.
It will age beautifully for over 15 years.
