Aged for 18 months in French barrels (25% new barrels) and American barrels (20% new barrels). Made from grapes from Rutherford's own vineyards and the surrounding Napa Valley. A well-balanced medium-bodied wine with cherry and raspberry aromas supported by exotic spices and cocoa nibs, purple and black fruit flavors with perfectly balanced tannins and acidity.
Vintage Information
The 2021 year was a dry year with only 2/3 of the usual amount of rainfall, so we paid close attention to the soil moisture and took care to properly manage the cultivation. The harvest took place from September 1st to October 12th, about two weeks earlier than usual, and fortunately the harvest was completed before the heavy rains in mid-October.
Technical information
The grapes come from Rutherford's own vineyards and small-scale growers in Napa Valley who are able to manage their cultivation in detail (both are sustainable farming methods). Each block from each vineyard is brewed separately. The grapes are crushed, fermented for 10-30 days, macerated, and then pressed to separate the skins. In general, the wine is blended between January and April of the year following the harvest and aged for 18 months in French barrels (15% new barrels) and American barrels (25% new barrels).
