Aged for 16 months in French barrels (40% new barrels) and made from grapes from five vineyards, including three from our own vineyards (73% from our own vineyards). Rich and firm, yet silky on the palate. Aromas of earth, tanned leather, lavender and peppermint, with flavors of cherry, Japanese plum and blackcurrant spreading throughout the mouth. Smooth and fleshy on the palate, with a long finish and a pleasant oak aroma with hints of chocolate.
Vintage Information
The winter was very dry and cool until early spring, when warm weather arrived in April and May, bringing with it bud break and flowering.
Temperatures rose significantly as the summer progressed and wine harvest began in mid-August.
A forest fire broke out around the same time, but was far from the Goldeneye fields and the smoke impact was minimal.
Nevertheless, to ensure quality, they thoroughly inspect and select the produce, discarding any that do not meet their standards.
As a result, none of the wildfire-affected grapes make it into the finished wine.
Meticulous selection resulted in small yields but produced wines with beautiful concentration, firm tannins, savory aromas and fresh fruit flavours.

Tasting Comments
Aromas of fresh raspberry, black cherry, and rich blackberry pie, with hints of cinnamon, clove, mint and sea salt.
In the mouth, bright, well-balanced acidity and supple tannins bring out the juicy fruitiness of American cherry and raspberry, while the long finish offers subtle hints of leather and breakfast tea.
It really shows the diversity of Anderson Valley.
