It has rich plum and blackberry aromas, black currant and soft dark chocolate flavours. It goes well with grilled red meat and tomato sauce dishes. Cabernet Sauvignon is the most widely grown black grape variety in South Africa and is famous in the Bordeaux region of France. The grapes grown in the warm climate of the Western Cape, which boasts abundant sunshine, are fully ripe and have soft tannins and balanced acidity. The grapes are harvested and crushed, and the juice and skins are macerated for 7 days before fermentation. In order to bring out the fruit flavours, barrel aging is deliberately not performed. After fermentation, the wine is aged in stainless steel tanks and then bottled. This wine was born from the "Empowerment Project", which aims to empower and empower employees. The employees own 52% of the business and all the grapes used in Five's Reserve are grown on the 55 hectares of De Gory Farm that they manage. The label features South Africa's "Big Five" animals: leopard, buffalo, lion, rhinoceros, and elephant.
