Aged 15 months in French barrels (40% new barrels). Standard Merlot from Napa Valley. Smooth on the palate, with soft tannins and a long finish. A rich, full-bodied wine with notes of ripe plum.
Duckhorn Vineyards has been making wine from Napa Valley grapes for nearly 40 years.
Duckhorn's Merlot is a blend of lots made from grapes sourced from our own vineyards and purchased from some of Napa Valley's top growers.
The resulting wine is incredibly rich, expressing all the characteristics of the broader Napa Valley's diverse microclimates and unique soils.
Vintage Information
2019 was another special vintage, producing wines of attractive luster and poise.
The season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring.
This meant we got off to a slightly later start than usual, however the summer weather was ideal and there were no major heat waves, allowing for an ideal flavour development.
The result is a complex, powerful white wine and a sophisticated red wine with fine tannins, attractive aromas and beautiful fruitiness.
Tasting Comments
From captivating aromas of ripe cherry and black plum to fine-grained tannins and vibrant complexity, the character of Napa Valley Merlot is beautifully expressed.
The palate is rich and fleshy, with sumptuous layers of blackberry, red licorice, fig compote, blueberry and rose petal that flow seamlessly into a long, elegant finish.
