Aged for 16 months in French barrels (50% new barrels). A blend of grapes from our own vineyards in Napa Valley and from growers with whom we have long-term contracts. The wine has a gorgeous layered flavor of plum, raspberry, and cinnamon supported by supple tannins and a firm structure.
Duckhorn has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon since 1978.
Combining grapes from our own vineyards with those from top growers, we create a seamless, perfect balance of fruit, oak and tannins that captures the complex flavors of Napa Valley.
Blending Cabernet with Merlot adds nuance, making it a wine that can be enjoyed young and is also suitable for aging.
Vintage Information
2019 was another excellent vintage, producing wines of attractive luster and poise.
The season began with a wet winter followed by a mild spring.
As a result, flowering occurred a little later than usual, but the summer weather was perfect and there were no major heat waves, allowing the flavours to mature ideally.
The white wines are complex and powerful, while the red wines are refined with fine tannins, attractive aromas and beautiful fruitiness.
Tasting Comments
This beautifully rich and complex wine offers enticing aromas of blueberry jam, black cherry and cinnamon, with hints of bay leaf, maple syrup and violets.
Aromas of dark berries and sweet baking spices fill the palate, while firm structure and fine, powdery tannins frame the flavor, adding depth to the long, powerful finish.
