Aged for 16 months in French barrels (50% new barrels). A blend of grapes from our own vineyards in Napa Valley and from growers with whom we have long-term contracts. The wine has a gorgeous layered flavor of plum, raspberry, and cinnamon supported by supple tannins and a firm structure.
Duckhorn has been producing Cabernet Sauvignon since 1978.
Combining grapes from our own vineyards with those from top growers, we create a seamless, perfect balance of fruit, oak and tannins that captures the complex flavors of Napa Valley.
Blending Cabernet with Merlot adds nuance, making it a wine that can be enjoyed young and is also suitable for aging.
Vintage Information
Overall, the 2020 growing season has been excellent.
After a relatively dry winter, bud break began early and the weather was mild throughout the spring and summer.
This allowed the grapes to ripen slowly, resulting in pure, lively flavours and a supple, full-bodied texture.
Although hot weather continued in mid-August, it helped the white wine grapes ripen quickly, resulting in an excellent harvest.
Rising temperatures in late September helped the red wine grapes to ripen to the final extent, and harvest was advanced to avoid the wildfires that occurred at the same time.
To ensure quality, Duckhorn thoroughly inspects and selects its products, rejecting any that do not meet its standards.
As a result, none of the grapes affected by the wildfires made it into the finished wine.Meticulous selection resulted in smaller yields, but the wines have beautiful aromas, soft and elegant textures, lively fruit and rich, complex flavors.
