Bois Vieux's second wine, B.D.R. (short for Bohan Dillon Road), was named after the vineyard, which used to be called "the end of Bohan Dillon Road." From the Mount Eden and Swan clone blocks of Bois Vieux (their own vineyard), barrels suitable for BDR were selected (Mount Eden 79% + Swan 21%) and aged for 10 months in French barrels. Bold and dynamic, with a charming Pinot Noir flavor with rich red-purple berries and a wonderful balance of natural acidity.
Thomas Rivers Brown, Fred and Carol Schrader, and David and Judy Steiner acquired the Boise View vineyard in 2007 (with the debut vintage of Pinot Noir in 2012).
After eight years of vintage, the second wine, the 2019 VTG B.D.R. (short for Bohan Dillon Road), was finally released in the fall of 2022.
When we found the Boaz View farm, there was no paved road to the farm and we had to drive a jeep over the hills and through the forest to get there.
The name comes from the fact that the location of the field at the time was called "off Bohan Dillon Road".
The "boar" label is even more impressive than the original Boar's View label.
The vines are now about 15 years old, which allows them to better express the individuality of the West Sonoma Coast, Fort Ross-Seaview, the vineyard, and the clones from this vineyard. As part of a long-planned effort to allow more people to experience the wonderful wine produced from this vineyard, the second wine was released for the first time this fall.
Vintage Information
Plenty of rain in the winter, a cool spring, late flowering, and no major heat waves in the summer allowed the grapes to ripen fully after a long growing season. The cool fog helped to keep the acidity in.

Tasting Comments
The color is dark and the aroma overflows from the glass, packed with nuances of red berries, licorice, pomegranate, mint, lavender oil, oolong tea, cedar shavings, and broken stone.
The bold and dynamic flavor begins with a rich fruitiness of mellow red-purple berries, and in the middle, complex elements such as mushrooms and tobacco leaves emerge, giving a slightly aged impression, and the overall impression is one of charming Pinot Noir, finishing with a high-quality flavor.
This wine has a wonderful balance of abundant fruitiness and natural acidity, making it special now and capable of further bottle aging.
