The Maggio family is a true producer of old California Zinfandel vines in Lodi for five generations. Each bottle of this wine is made from grapes from old vines that are more than 30 years old on average, so the essence of Lodi Zinfandel is packed into each bottle. The wine is a deep ruby color and full of dark fruit aromas. It's like the ripe aroma of blackberries and plums, enveloped in spices and vanilla used in baked goods. The wine is full-bodied with medium tannins. This OZV Zinfandel is made only from grapes harvested on the Maggio family's own sustainable vineyards in Lodi. Lodi's climate is characterized by a large temperature difference between day and night, which allows the grapes to ripen while maintaining their natural acidity. Thousands of acres of Zinfandel have been planted in Lodi since the 1880s. The rugged old vines that still survive today produce concentrated, vibrant fruit, creating the style of Zinfandel that made Lodi famous. Lodi is home to Zinfandel vineyards that are 50-120 years old, including some that were planted before Prohibition. The OZV brand, made from these Old Vine Zinfandel vines, will include rosé wine in 2020. The range of wines that give you a taste of Lodi has expanded!
