Hayne Vineyard is a renowned single vineyard winery located in St. Helena, at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. The soil is gravelly loamy, resulting in very low yields. The vineyard's small to average sized vines, grown in the warm climate of St. Helena, produce grapes with a sweet, jammy flavor. Hayne's grapes are the first to be harvested each year. Fully ripe and juicy, with a hint of earthiness that brings out the plum and berry fruitiness. The 2017 vintage is a testament to the vineyard's excellence. It is approachable yet complex, with fine tannins, delicate fruit and earthy aromas, and a long finish. 2017 began with a cool, rainy winter, but the spring calmed. Rains after budbreak in April allowed the vines to grow well, and the summer sunshine helped them to grow even more. The temperature dropped once in August and the vines settled, but then the last heat wave of the season hit over Labor Day weekend in September. The temperature dropped immediately after, so the harvest could be held off until the phenols were fully ripe. Hayne Vineyard is a renowned single-vineyard winery located in St. Helena at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. The vines are small to average size and the yield is very low due to the gravelly loamy soil. St. Helena's warm climate is ideal for producing jammy, sweet grapes, which tend to be harvested relatively early each year. Nickel & Nickel is a winery with a "one grape variety, one vineyard" motif, and is a sister winery of Far Niente Winery, which is immovably popular in Napa Valley. The biggest feature of Nickel & Nickel's wines is that they are made only from a single grape variety from a single vineyard. The most important decision is which single vineyard to make the wine from. No matter how great a single vineyard is, if there is even the slightest bit that does not meet their standards, they will not make wine from it. The wines are carefully brewed and aged using only grapes that convey the individuality of the variety and soil.
