This 3.2 hectare vineyard is named after the hot iron owned by the vineyard owner. It is located west of Oakville, at the foot of the Mayacamas Mountains. The soil is well-drained clay loam and is trained with a vertical trellis to maximize the amount of sunlight. This is a naturally warm plot that receives strong sunlight at dawn and dusk, so the grapes ripen slowly over time. Nickel & Nickel is a winery with the motif of "one grape variety, one vineyard" and is a sister winery of Far Niente Winery, which is immovably popular in Napa Valley. The biggest feature of Nickel & Nickel's wines is that they are made only from a single grape variety from a single vineyard. The most important decision is which single vineyard to make wine from. No matter how great a single vineyard is, if there is even a part that does not meet their standards, they will not make wine from it. The wines are carefully brewed and aged using only grapes that convey the individuality of the variety and soil.
