This is Miura's entry-level Pinot Noir. This is a Pinot Noir that has been requested by many restaurants and is priced to be served by the glass, making it a cost-effective Pinot Noir. It is made in a style that is delicious to drink young, and does not compromise on its complex flavors and elegant nuances. After a humid winter, the spring and summer were very warm, and the harvest was early. The result is a full-bodied, well-balanced wine with a fruity flavor. (Production volume: 1,504 cases) This wine was bottled as "Monterey County" until the 2012 vintage. Since the 2013 vintage (except for 2016), the appellation has been changed from Monterey County to Santa Lucia Highlands, and the quality has been slightly improved. Up until the 2012 vintage, about half of the total grapes were from Wrath Vineyard, and the other half were from Tondre Vineyard, located in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, owned by Joe Alarid. From 2013 to 2015, the wine was made from 100% grapes from this wonderful Tondre Vineyard, and the appellation was changed accordingly. Although it is not released as a single-vineyard wine, it is in line with Miura's philosophy to maximize the individuality of each contracted vineyard. For the 2017 vintage, grapes from the vineyards managed by Steve McIntyre, the most talented grower in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA, are used. This winery was started by a collaboration between Emmanuel Kemiji, a master sommelier of only 150 people in the world, and Byron Kosugi, a famous winemaker at the Ritz-Carlton in San Francisco, who is a master of California Pinot Noir. They make single-vineyard Pinot from grapes from famous vineyards that can be considered the top vineyards in California. "Miura" comes from the name of a bull trainer in Spain, where Emmanuel lived as a child. The bottle features a depiction of a brave fighting bull.
