Deep garnet color with raspberry and spice notes, followed by salivating berry flavors and soft, supple tannins on a smooth finish. Justi Creek Vineyard Justi Creek Vineyard and Lasseter Family Winery are located on 95 beautiful acres (38 ha) in Sonoma Valley, just outside the town of Glen Ellen. The red wine varieties, Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, were planted in 2001 and are on the flat bottom land along the Calabasas Creek. A steam locomotive curves through the 10-acre (4 ha) Lower Justi Block. A balanced, food-friendly, easy-drinking wine that, for us, evokes a relaxed, laid-back European train journey. Chemin de Fer is French for "train". The Lasseter Family Story began in 1993 when John Lasseter and his wife Nancy moved to Sonoma and discovered the artistic value of winemaking with their fellow amateur winemakers. It was a big jump from just tasting wine to suddenly being immersed in winemaking. By 2000, they were making their own wines at their local friend Remick Ridge. The idea for Lasseter Family Winery gradually evolved, and John and Nancy began to think about where to build their winery. In 2002, a historic Sonoma Valley winery came up for sale. It was in need of extensive restoration, and John and Nancy thought it was the perfect place to begin their story. They closed on the purchase during the 2002 harvest and began an environmentally friendly restoration of the vineyards and winery. They restored habitats on the entire property and converted all of the vineyards to organic farming. The Lasseters partnered with winemaker Julia Iantosca to “finetune” the vineyards, work on the blending of the signature wines, and ultimately identify what the house style will be. The historic winery was transformed into a state-of-the-art eco-friendly winery. Three generations of the Lasseter family have been working on the project together. Justi Creek Vineyards and Lasseter Family Winery are located on 95 beautiful acres in Sonoma Valley, just outside the town of Glen Ellen. Located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, which was still part of Mexico in the mid-19th century, the site is organically grown with an environmentally friendly winery building at the center. Justi Creek Vineyards is located on beautiful land and consists of three adjacent vineyards just outside the town of Glen Ellen. In order to practice organic farming in this vineyard, John and Nancy first established a balance in the ecosystem that would attract bees and insects, which are essential for healthy grape growth. After obtaining organic certification, the vineyard is now managed by vineyard manager Phil Coturri. The vineyard where the grapes used for the Rhone blend Chemin de Fer are planted is on a flat, low-lying land along a stream called Calabasas Creek, and steam locomotives run through the 10-acre (4ha) Lower Justy Block, which is a curved area between the vineyards. The grapes used for the winery's flagship wine, Paysage, are grown on a 17-acre (6.8ha) vineyard on a plateau called the "Benchland" west of Calabasas Creek. This block, called the Upper Justy Block, is home to Bordeaux varieties Malbec, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc.
