This wine is elegant, sophisticated, structured, tannic, dark, and even shadowy. It's like listening to Wagner on a stormy night when you've made an unexpected fortune. It has a high level of complexity and is like magic itself. 2018 was a truly wonderful vintage, a truly happy one. Just thinking about it makes me smile. It was such a perfect and wonderful year. The grapes are harvested from small family-run vineyards, some of which are now managed by the 3rd or 4th generation, and are cultivated with great care. The harvest time is determined regardless of the weather or tank capacity. The grapes are selected while determining the degree of ripeness of each grape, fermented in small French oak barrels, and aged for a long time in the finest small barrels. The secret is to work without any compromise and without neglecting the details. Fortunate Sun is a brand that Jason Woodbridge, the owner of Hundred Acres, known as the "100-point king," re-released after 10 years. It has been a quarter century since he debuted as the owner and winemaker of Hundred Acres. Fortunate Sun has become a wine that reminds Jason of the inspiring emotions he had forgotten for many years. The concept of Fortunate Sun is to make wine from the vineyards cultivated by Napa's pioneers, and to use Jason's time, skills and knowledge to bring high-quality wines to the world that they never imagined.
Jason says:
"Humans are creatures who make bold decisions, negotiate and dream big. Fortunate Sun is the very embodiment of the dreams of humanity.
It is a revival of the Fortunate Sun brand that I released in the past, and when you taste it, you will know without a doubt that it is a wine I made.
This is a way of giving back and thanking the Hundred Acres fans who have been waiting for a long time for the revival of Fortunate Sun, which suddenly came to an end. It is a fascinating wine like Hundred Acres, but it is not the same wine.
We hope you enjoy this powerful wine, which has been made with more honesty and seriousness than ever before. "Spirits of Fortunate Sun
Jason has paid tribute to the great men who came before him in his wines. The pioneers of Napa Valley were the miners who arrived in California in the mid-1800s in search of gold. A few of them became very wealthy, but many of them had to make a living as farmers or other workers. The glory of such pioneers as HW Crabb, George C Yount, Charles Krug, and George Beldan Crane is a testament to their hard work and tenacity in the face of poverty to survive for their families.
David Fulton was one of them, and he arrived in Napa Valley in 1860 and began cultivating grapes. Fulton's vines, known for their high quality, are said to have been used as cuttings for the original Crane Vineyard in 1865. Until 2020, it had flourished as a family-run winery in Napa for over 150 years. In June 2020, Jason purchased this winery and vineyard, filled with the frontier spirit, and it was reborn as the new home of Fortunate Sun.
