Vernon is the name of the Lieu-d'île-de-Provence in Condrieu. Vines are 30 years old. Planting density: 8,000-10,000 vines/ha. Steep slope. Well-structured flavor. Barrel fermentation. Aged for 16 months on the lees in 50% foudres and 50% old barrels. Born in 1961, Mr. Cuilleron studied winemaking and viticulture at a vocational school before taking over the Domaine from his uncle in 1986. In his mid-30s, he has already reached the top level as a white wine producer in the Rhone region, and in particular owns a large 12-hectare vineyard in Condrieu, where he produces outstanding wines with complex, rich, well-balanced, and deep flavors. His Vieilles Vignes made from old vines and his Récolte Tartives made from perfectly ripe grapes picked later are spectacular. The vines are 15 to 60 years old, and the grapes are harvested by selecting the most ripe grapes possible, with the minimum amount harvested, and then carefully selected again on the selection table. For reds, up to 30% of the grapes are fermented whole in cement and stainless steel tanks, which are easy to control the temperature. For whites, the wines are basically fermented in barrels. After a long maceration, the wines are aged in small barrels (10 to 100% new barrels) for 6 to 18 months. The wines are frequently batonnaged and bottled without filtering. He currently owns 75 hectares, making him the largest domaine in the Northern Rhone. In 2016, they opened a new winery and adopted gravity flow, continuing to strive to produce even more outstanding wines.
