The wine name "BARDEN" is the owner Doug Marjram's middle name, and in English it means "living near the boar's roost". The label features a wild boar, which is often seen in the fields managed by Doug. Baden wines are wines that directly resonate with people's sensibilities. This wine is a wine that you feel with your brain, body, and soul, and it is no exaggeration to say that only people with a keen sense of sensitivity can understand it. The Baden brand makes wines that cannot be made at Marjram Wine Company, whose motto is handmade and rich in individuality. Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, and white blend, this is a reckless challenge to the "world" in a sense, like living near the boar's roost. It has a complex aroma reminiscent of butter, toast, and cream with a subtle tropical nuance. The fruitiness and minerals are in perfect balance, with a texture like soil, white peach, and bread and a numbing acidity. The rich, mouth-warming flavor and acidity continue on the long finish. The 2014 vintage began harvesting on August 8th. This is the earliest harvest in the history of Majram. The grape quality was excellent, with small, tightly packed, perfectly ripe grapes. This is a highly anticipated vintage that reflects the characteristics of each grape variety. 2014 was cooler on average than 2013, with no weather problems such as heat waves or hail. The wine is characterized by a great balance of acidity, low alcohol content, fine tannins, and concentration. The grapes were harvested early to maintain freshness, and barrel fermented in a cellar at a room temperature of 13 degrees. The MLF is followed by batonnajou for 4 months. 60% of the total is aged in new French oak barrels made by Quintessence and François Frères, and the remaining 40% is aged in 2-year-old Ermitage cigar barrels for a total of 10 months. Doug Margerum's interest in food and wine began when he was taken on trips to France and Italy by his parents, who loved to travel. He then trained in both the kitchen and on the floor of restaurants during his high school and college years, deepening his knowledge of food and wine culture. In 1981, when Doug graduated from UCSB (University of California, Santa Barbara), his family bought Wine Cask, a wine shop and commercial brewing equipment dealer. Doug then opened a small bistro next to the wine shop, but in 1996, due to the bistro's popularity, Wine Cask moved to El Paseo in Santa Barbara and expanded its scale. Doug's cooking, which he was involved in creating menus as a sommelier and chef, was based on the experience and knowledge he had gained from the food cultures of various countries around the world when he was young, and was a kind of California cuisine that included elements of Asian and Mexican cuisine. The restaurant has been featured in various media outlets as a place where you can enjoy the best food and wine in a relaxed atmosphere. In 1994, Wine Cask won the Grand Award from Wine Spectator magazine, joining the ranks of restaurants with the best wine lists in the world. In 2007, the wine he made as a hobby while running the restaurant became so popular that he sold Wine Cask and decided to focus on running the winery. With a motto of "handmade," Majram Wine Company produces unique wines. In recent years, they have been producing small quantities of high-quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir under the BARDEN brand. This is a super wine that only Doug, a well-known lover of French wine, could make.
