Royal St. Robert's motto is "pursuit of quality" that their grandfather Robert taught them. This wine is a selection of the best wines in the cellar, and is made from the best wines from the cool, rugged west-facing slopes of Sonoma Coast. We wanted to make world-class California Pinot Noir with our own hands... That's what started the project called Rain. The winery's name is an acronym for "Research in Agriculture and Enology Naturally," which represents their passion for research into agriculture and winemaking. The rain that falls on the fields is eventually absorbed by the trees and transformed into grapes that are the raw material for wine. The name of the winery also refers to the rain (Rain), which is the source of life for these grapes. Rain is a fresh winery founded in 2013 on Sonoma Coast by two thoroughbreds in the California wine industry, Carlo Mondavi and Dante Mondavi. Carlo and Dante are the grandsons of Robert Mondavi, known as the "father of California wine," whose father is Tim Mondavi of Continuum. Born and raised in Napa Valley, Carlo and Dante have been exposed to wine since childhood at Robert Mondavi Winery and Opus One, and have been involved in a wide range of cultivation and brewing work since Continuum was founded in 2005 under the supervision of their father Tim. Carlo and Dante were also fascinated by Pinot Noir due to the influence of their grandfather Robert and father Tim. Their father Tim, who was in charge of brewing at Robert Mondavi in its heyday, was known as a pioneer of Pinot Noir, and his sons inherited his strong passion for Burgundy wine. In 2013, Carlo and Dante began their pursuit of Pinot Noir on the foundation of Rain. This was the moment when "world-class Pinot Noir" was engraved in the history of the Mondavi family. Royal St. Robert Cuvee is based on the motto of "pursuit of quality" that their grandfather Robert taught them. It is made from grapes grown in the west-facing Green Valley vineyards in the Russian River Valley, known for its harsh environment for grapes. A small amount of grapes from the Occidental vineyards are blended to give the wine a complex aroma. The home field is located in the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, about 3 km inland from the Pacific Ocean, north of the town of Jenner. The climate is very cool, which allows the grapes to grow for a long time. The vineyard is located above the fog that occurs every morning, allowing the grapes to continue photosynthesizing. The bodega is surrounded by sequoia trees and wild plants, and is located in a unique Sonoma grape growing region that is currently in the process of being applied for as Freestone Occidental AVA. This is the vineyard with the lowest daytime temperatures and the longest growing season. The result is a wine that combines balance and depth. The wine label has the AVA name printed in large letters, giving it a feel somewhat reminiscent of French wine. This reflects Carlo and Dante's desire to have people taste their wines that fully express the individuality and terroir of each wine-producing region, rather than appealing to the winemakers' names or the brand name Rain.
