Ruttas and Broval vineyards, southeast of Monte Calvarino. Sandy and limestone soil. 180m above sea level, Guyot vineyard, the oldest is about 80 years old. Gladys Chiutta is an up-and-coming winery founded in 1997 in the Collio DOC in Friuli. It is located in Jasvana, south of San Floriano del Collio, just 10 minutes by car from Gravner and Radikon. The name Gladys Chiutta comes from the name of a hill in San Floriano del Collio, which in Latin means Monsilvi, mountain of wine. The vineyards are located in three places: Gorizia (center of Collio), Capriva del Friuli (center of Collio), and Dolegna del Collio (northern Collio), and cover a total of 22 parcels and 35 hectares. This area is located at an altitude of 80 to 280 meters, and has sandy and clay soil mixed with ancient limestone called Ponca. It has almost the same annual rainfall as Burgundy (1,000 to 1,400 mm/year), and a low annual grape production of 6 to 8 tons/ha. These are the foundations for producing high quality wine. The owner and winemaker is Roberto Princic. His parents, Ivanka and Zorko, are landowners in this area and have been engaged in agriculture here for many years. His son, Roberto, has been interested in wine since he was a child, and after graduating from winemaking school, he started making wine in 1997. Roberto continues to make wine, believing in the potential of his vineyards and the terroir. Since 2013, he has been the leader of the Collio Consorzio and has become a winemaker representing this area. Today, Gladys Chiutta is highly regarded by wine experts and writers, including Decander magazine writer Richard Baudian and agricultural consultant Giovanni Bigo.
